Project Name

Developed the county plan to provide an additional five hundred mental health and substance abuse treatment beds, while helping expand Medicaid to cover more inpatient mental health services, and brought over ten new facilities online.

Created the Blue Ribbon Commission on Homelessness to bring in more transparency and accountability to the region's homelessness response, leading to major reform of homelessness bureaucracy.

Expanded the county's mental health crisis response teams to respond to individuals in the community and on the streets experiencing mental health emergencies.

Created the successful Veterans Internship Program, which provides internship opportunities, training, guidance, and support, and leads to permanent employment and rewarding lives for hundreds of veterans, while also funding one hundred temporary housing beds for veterans experiencing homelessness.

Expanded the county's school threat assessment response teams from ten to forty-two full-time staff members to provide assistance to students in school suffering from mental health issues, which last year alone resulted in more than five thousand four hundred calls and hundreds of students helped.

Developed the Urgent Housing Initiative that matches homeless individuals with existing housing resources, and also developed the Housing for Public Health program, which deploys on-the-ground case managers to help the homeless with clean-up efforts. She's also committed increased funding for additional outreach teams and cleaning up encampments.

Increased the responsiveness of homeless outreach teams by getting extra funding for additional outreach teams, including staff from the Sheriff's Department, to clean up homeless encampments.

Housing and Economic Development

Allocated over fifteen million dollars annually to bring over five hundred additional units of affordable housing to the area, working closely with communities to ensure these projects meet local needs, and helped approve the development of five thousand housing units to address the local housing supply shortage.

Organized business, nonprofit, schools, entertainment, and faith leaders together to plan the reopening of LA County after COVID closures, and championed policies to balance safety with the reopening of businesses and schools.

Approved the development of approximately 5,000 housing units in the 5th District to address the Statewide and Countywide housing supply shortage.

Directed the creation of Net Zero development standards for large scale development, to ensure that we can continue to meet our housing and sustainability goals.
