Abundant Housing Los Angeles and Pasadena Councilmember Jason Lyon endorse Supervisor Kathryn Barger for re-election
This week, Supervisor Kathryn Barger is proud to announce the endorsement of local housing champions Abundant Housing Los Angeles – a prominent advocacy organization for affordable housing and sustainable development – and Pasadena City Councilmember Jason Lyon.
These endorsements reflect a strong local vote of confidence in Supervisor Barger's unwavering commitment to both addressing the housing crisis and promoting equitable and sustainable housing policies in Los Angeles County for residents from all socio-economic backgrounds.
"Supervisor Kathyrn Barger understands the complexity of Los Angeles County government,” said Abundant Housing Los Angeles. “She and her colleagues have been pushing for more housing and to streamline the approval process for housing in the county's unincorporated areas."
"Kathryn has led common sense solutions on the most pressing challenges for our communities, like housing affordability and sustainability,” said Pasadena City Councilmember Jason Lyon. “She is a committed public servant who collaborates and builds coalitions, and I look forward to continuing working with her to bring more services to Pasadena."
Abundant Housing Los Angeles is a nonprofit advocacy organization that since 2017 has been dedicated to promoting an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable approach to housing development in the greater Los Angeles area. The organization works to build broad-based support for policies that increase the supply of affordable housing, reduce barriers to development, and ensure that all residents have access to safe and stable housing.
Councilmember Lyon has represented Pasadena’s District 7 since 2022 and has built diverse coalitions to respond to his community. Both while serving on the Council, and during his previous service on the Pasadena Planning Commission, Lyon has advocated for common-sense solutions on housing, homelessness, and economic development.
"I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of Abundant Housing Los Angeles and Councilmember Lyon," said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. "Tackling our County’s housing crisis head-on has been one of my top priorities. Developing and sustaining partnerships like these is essential to developing housing solutions that meet the needs of local communities. I firmly believe that by forging the right partnerships and working together, we can make L.A. County a place where everyone has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.”
Supervisor Barger has been instrumental in supporting policies that promote responsible development and expand housing options for residents throughout Los Angeles County. Not only has supervisor Barger allocated over $15 million towards over 500 affordable housing units in the Fifth District, she has streamlined the development of tens of thousands of market-rate housing projects. Her leadership in advocating for housing policies that address the needs of both low- and middle-income residents has had a profound impact on the region.
Supervisor Barger has also garnered the support of a wide array of business and community groups, including Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County Action Fund and the LA Jobs PAC (Los Angeles Area Chamber), Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed). She also has the endorsement of organized labor, including SEIU 721, Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriffs and Firefighters, LA/OC Building Trades Council, LiUNA! Local 300, Teamsters 42, AFSCME 36 and many more.
Councilmember Lyon’s endorsement of Supervisor Barger adds to an extensive, bi-partisan list of local electeds, including over 40 Fifth District mayors and councilmembers.
