Letter from Kathryn Barger
To the Voters of the 5th Supervisorial District of Los Angeles:
I am a lifelong resident of this community. I grew up here and I have worked here for almost all of my life.
For the last fifteen years, I have worked with Supervisor Mike Antonovich as your Chief Deputy Supervisor for the Fifth Supervisorial District. As the Chief Deputy Supervisor, I have first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing our communities and how to solve them.
I’ll work to hold down spending and taxes while making sure that Los Angeles County provides critical services for those in real need. I am committed to government policies that foster job creation along with a strong economy. I will cut unnecessary regulations and red-tape so we can get our economy growing for everyone. That’s why I am endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce and the LA County Business Federation.
I am a strong proponent of safe communities. That’s why I have won the support of our local Firefighters and Deputy Sheriffs.
My background as a health policy advisor to Supervisor Antonovich informs my strong commitment to healthcare issues, foster care, mental health issues, and reducing homelessness.
I will work with all our local communities to protect our natural resources and promote a clean environment.
I support Measure M because it will reduce traffic, create middle class jobs, and improve our quality of life.
My common sense approach and roll-up-your-sleeves experience has earned bi-partisan endorsements from Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.
I am proud to have the support of Supervisors Antonovich, Sheila Kuehl, and the Chair of the LA County Board of Supervisors, Hilda Solis. I also am supported by fifty local elected officials, including Mayor Eric Garcetti. Support for my candidacy includes business, thousands of local working families, the local chapter of the National Women’s Political Caucus, and five of my former Primary opponents, all of whom know my record and understand my dedication to confronting and solving the difficult issues facing LA County.
I ask for your support on November 8th or earlier, if you choose to vote by mail.
